COPPER FITTINGS FOR PLUMBING                

 

The Integral Solder Ring Capillary Jointing System 'Yorkshire Potable ' Integral   Solder Ring Capillary Fittings are available in over 700 patterns and were originally developed by IMI Yorkshire Fittings Ltd. They are quick and easy to install , very strong and reliable and guaranteed for 25 years. The fittings utilise the principle of capillary attraction to ensure that molten solder is drawn into the gap between the tube wall and inside surface of the fitting , so forming a strong leak proof joint. Every 'Yorkshire Potable' fitting has specially formed recesses that contain a carefully calculated amount of 99c tin/copper  lead -free solder to make a perfect joint. There is no need to add further solder.Simply heat the fitting, until a ring of solder appears at the end of the mouth of the fitting , then allow to cool. STANDARDS AND APPROVALS 'Yorkshire Potable ' Fittings , in sizes from 6mm to 67mm, comply with BS:864:Part2 and are manufactured under a BS 5750 quality System approved by the British Standards Institute External BSP (taper) threads are machined to BS 864: part 2.External and internal BSP Parallel threads conform with Bs 2779 and ISO R228/1. 'yorkshire Potable' fittings are accepted by and meet the requirements of the United Kingdom Water Fittings Bylaws Scheme (WRC) , all Uk municipal authorities , British Gas Plc, Llyods, leading admiralties, classification societies and ship builders throughout the world.

BS 864 : Part 2 specifies hydraulic working pressures and temperatures for fittings assembled with tubes to BS2871. For 76.1mm and 108mm sizes of 'Yorkshire Potable' fittings , our own recommendations are given in the following table.

Smaller sizes of  standard fitting can safely be used , at ambient temperatures, for much higher pressure than those indicated above . As part of the pipeline working room temperatures and under neutral or compressive stresses, fittings in sizes 6mm to 28mm can be used at pressures up to the maximum working pressures of tubes copper( Half  hard or hard temper ) such as those to BS 2871, Table x or Table y.

Tin /copper lead free solder used in 'Yorkshire potable' fittings conforms to BS 864 : 99c with an approximate melting temperature of between 227degree C  and 235degree C . The required jointing temperatures are readily achieved using a convenient heat source. See the following installation instructions for further details.

THE KUTERLITE 600 COMPRESSION FITTINGS RANGE

IMI Yorkshire Fittimgs Ltd also manufacture a range of precision made brass compression fittings that enable light gauge copper and steel tubes to be joined without the need for solder, blow torch or screw threading .

Kuterlite 600 fittings consist of a brass body with built-in  stop for receiving the tube , compression rings which fit over the tubes and compression nuts. Little preparation of the tube is required prior to assembly and spanners are the only tools needed to make completely reliable joints. The action of tightening the nut compresses the specially shaped double grip Kuterlite ring onto the tube form a strong , secure, meta -to- metal joint.Kuterlite 600 fittings are ideal for use on above ground hot and cold water services and also are suitable for oil and low pressure gas lines. The fittings should be used with copper tube manufactured in accordance with BS2871 : part 1, tables w,x,y, (half hard) and z , DIN 1786 and other standard based on  ISO 274.

Kuterlite fittings are accepted by and meet the requirements of the United Kingdom Water fittings by laws scheme

INSTALLATION

1. select the correct size of tube and fitting , ensuring the ends of the tube are cut square. Copper tubes  should be of     hard or half hard tempers but in the case of 6,8 and 10mm sizes , annealed tube may also be used.
   

2. Ensure that the tube openings are round , using a rounding tool if necessary.

3. Assemble nut and ring and insert tube into fitting until the stop is reached.

4. Tighten nut using correct size spanner until compression ring grips the tube, i.e until it is no longer possible to rotate the tube in the fitting by hand.

5. Further tighten the nut one-third to two-thirds turn for normal jointing .

6. Kuterlite fittings can be used again and again with out loss of joint efficiency ,providing the components are kept clean and undamaged.

DEZINCIFICATION RESISTANT ALLOY RANGE

KUTERLITE900

Intented for hot and cold water services in certain areas where waters are known to support Dezincification of duplex brass fittings . The Kuterlite 900 Dezincification of duplex brass fittings. The Kuterlite 900    dezincification resisitant (DZR) range is designed for use with copper tubing to BS 864 : Part1 and installation and  performance are identical to those of the Kuterlite 600 range.
